As computing power increases—especially with the rise of AI and GPU clusters—traditional cooling methods are evolving to handle rack densities that can exceed 50, 80, or even 100 kilowatts per rack.
In this video you’ll learn:
• How room-based air cooling works in traditional data centers
• How close-coupled air cooling improves efficiency with in-row and rear-door systems
• How direct-to-chip liquid cooling removes heat directly from processors
• How immersion cooling submerges servers in dielectric fluid to remove extreme heat loads
• Why heat density is driving the shift from air cooling to liquid cooling
We also explain the thermodynamic principle behind this transition: air has relatively low heat capacity compared to liquid, which means liquids can absorb and transport heat far more efficiently.
Understanding these cooling strategies is essential for engineers, contractors, IT professionals, and anyone interested in how modern data centers operate.
